Who We Are

Based on its human resources, experience and know-how at local, national and international levels, Turkish Red Crescent is not only an organization that distributes aid, but also an organization that sets standards, creates literature, disseminates knowledge, conducts R&D and innovation activities in its fields of work. The fact that TRC is Turkiye’s oldest and largest non-governmental organization has compelled it to contribute to scientific knowledge and literature, to produce innovative projects in line with the requirements of the age and to work on the dissemination of knowledge.

 

Turkish Red Crescent Academy, which was established within TRC in February 2020 to carry out the work and functions within this scope, started its activities in March 2020. The Academy is the unit that conducts and coordinates training, research and publication activities in TRC’s fields of work: disaster and emergency relief, humanitarian aid, public health and blood services. It also develops qualified training programs that will be required in the lifelong learning process, prepares content for trainings, uses distance education platforms to disseminate its trainings nationally and internationally and to ensure that all segments of society can access them easily, and provides trainings with innovative approaches in addition to classical teaching methods.

 

Moreover, the Academy organizes national and international events, trainings, workshops and conferences within the framework of its agreements, collaborations and protocols, and participates in events organized. Conducts academic research in TRC’s fields of activity using scientific research methods and supports those who wish to do so. The reports of these researches not only help institutional development but also contribute to the literature by being published on national and international platforms. The Academy makes scientific, cultural and artistic publications with copyrighted and translated works and periodicals in order to create knowledge in the fields of activity of TRC and to raise public awareness.

 

The Academy, which has 39 staff as of 2023, is organized under Directorate of Education and Management Office Directorate. Directorate of Education consists of 5 directorates; Education Strategies Development, Education Planning and Implementation, E-Learning Products and Systems, Education and Training Programs Development and Product and Content Development.
